SYDNEY, Feb. 24 (TASS) – The Australian government introduced additional financial restrictions and an entry ban for 55 Russian nationals and 37 organizations, Foreign Ministry Penny Wong said.
The cause for sanctions was "deportation of Ukrainian children from regions under temporary Russian control," attributed by Canberra to Moscow.
The full list of individuals and companies under new restrictions is not indicated yet. "We have also sanctioned targets in Russia's defense, energy, media and minerals sectors, as well as targets involved in Russia's procurement networks in Belarus, Iran and North Korea," the minister said.
The Australian sanction list comprises over 1,100 individuals and more than 300 companies of Russia and Belarus. Authorities of the country fully ended trade relations with Russia, froze assets of individuals in the black list and prohibited Australian entities from dealing with companies hit by sanctions. Furthermore, there is a full ban in effect on exports of goods and services intended to be used exploration and production of oil, gas, and mineral resources in Russia.
