MINSK, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The Belarusian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said the new U.S. administration's policy toward Belarus maintains an obsolete biased stereotype.

Commenting on the U.S. extension of sanctions against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and several officials for another year, Maria Vanshina, deputy head of the foreign ministry's information office, said the U.S. decision repeats similar ones made in previous years.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump extended for another year the sanctions against Lukashenko, several Belarusian officials and their families. The sanctions were introduced by former U.S. President George W. Bush to denounce presidential elections in Belarus that Washington called undemocratic.

Vanshina said Washington's allegation that Belarus poses a threat to it is absolutely unacceptable.

The foreign ministry official said Belarus is committed to continuing constructive dialogues with the United States and to mutually beneficial cooperation, in the belief that such bilateral cooperation will contribute to positive changes in the U.S. foreign policy.
