SYDNEY, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Passengers had to leap from a plane onto the tarmac on Tuesday morning, when it was evacuated after a threatening note was found during the flight from Sydney to the town of Albury.
The note discovered in the bathroom of the 68-seater turboprop, Virgin VA1174 flight, said there was a bomb on the aircraft, according to local media reports.
New South Wales State Police however, informed Xinhua that there was no sign and any explosives onboard the plane and said they believe the incident was merely a "prank."
Police also stated that one man has been taken into custody and is assisting police with their inquiries.
It's believed cabin crew "ripped off" the doors from the inside, after the plane landed and instructed people on board to "leave your luggage. Get out and run, run, run!" one passenger told the Australian Associated Press.
No passengers were reported as injured after making the 1.2 meter jump from the aircraft and police emphasized "all of the occupants were secured and safe with in five minutes of it landing."
