Paris (FN), Jan. 16 – TotalEnergies intended to invest in renewable energy in Cambodia. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed and encouraged the company as it aligned with the policy of the Royal Government.

The premier received a courtesy call by CEO of TotalEnergies Patrick Pouyanné on 15 January 2024 in Paris, France.

Patrick Pouyanné thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing him and his delegation to pay a courtesy call. He also briefed the company’s progress and expansion plan for investment in Cambodia.

The CEO informed Samdech Thipadei that TotalEnergies is a prominent company in terms of oil and gas in Cambodia, adding the company also has a business in the electricity sector. In this regard, the CEO also expressed his intention to seek investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector. TotalEnergies is currently seeking investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector in Singapore, and the success of this project will boost investment in renewable energy in Cambodia, giving the kingdom more options for sustainable energy sources.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed Patrick Pouyanné and his delegation and expressed his pleasure and support for the company's plan to invest in renewable energy in the kingdom as it aligned with the Royal Government’s policy in promoting renewable energy sources.

Samdech Thipadei expressed his support and cooperation on investment in connecting the submarine power grid from Cambodia to Singapore. The premier encouraged the company to cooperate with relevant ministries and institutions, especially the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
