Paris (FN), Jan. 16 – The Blue Circle, the leading renewable energy company of Southeast Asia, enthusiastically expressed its intent to invest in wind power in Cambodia. Having conducted thorough assessments, the company has identified promising sites such as Bokor Mountain and various locations in Mondulkiri for potential wind power generation.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Chairman and CEO of Blue Circle Olivier Duguet on Monday (Jan. 15) in Paris, France.
During the meeting, Olivier Duguet thanked the Prime Minister for taking the time to allow him and his colleagues to pay a courtesy call. He informed about the progress of Blue Circle's business activities and its plans to expand its investment in Cambodia.
The CEO underscored that their company boasts significant expertise and experience in the renewable energy sector, with a specific focus on wind power. Notably, the company has previously explored opportunities in Asia, including Cambodia, engaging with local partners to assess the region's geographical conditions. Through these efforts, they have identified strategically advantageous locations with optimal wind speeds for efficient electricity generation.
After a comprehensive analysis of the geographical landscape, Olivier Duguet added that the company has pinpointed several viable locations for wind power generation, notably including Bokor Mountain in Kampot and Mondulkiri. During discussions with Samdech Thipadei, the company expressed confidence that, with steadfast support and collaboration from relevant partners and the Royal Government, they could generate a substantial amount of electricity. In the initial phase, the company envisions producing 100 Megawatts, with potential for expansion in the future. This endeavour holds the promise of not only providing Cambodia with increased access to renewable energy sources but also the prospect of exporting electricity internationally.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet warmly welcomed and endorsed the projects proposed by interested companies seeking to invest in Cambodia. The premier conveyed his best wishes for the success of the company's future endeavours and urged them to engage with local partners, as well as relevant ministries and institutions in Cambodia.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also underscored the importance of examining the feasibility of the wind power project and encouraged collaborative efforts to identify opportunities for its success, ultimately yielding tangible and practical outcomes.
