Phnom Penh (FN), May 27 – Prime Minister Hun Sen, President of Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) will lead 150,000 members and supporters in a parade to close the election campaign on June 2, 2017, according to Pa Socheatvong on Saturday.
“Over 150 thousands CPP beloved people and members in Phnom Penh will join the last day of election campaign parade,” stated Phnom Penh Governor, Pa Socheatvong.
“In a showcase of solidarity and support for the CPP candidates for commune council, I will be joining in a parade to close the campaign nationwide on behalf of president of CPP,” the premier wrote on his Facebook page on May 23.
The commune-council election campaign in the 4th mandate run from May 20 to June 02, 2017.
Over the past six days, two people died during the election campaign, according to Hang Puthea, spokesman of the National Election Committee (NEC).
NEC and civil society organizations, however, agreed that the electoral campaign's security and safety has improved and that it reflected the maturity of Cambodian political parties.
