Phnom Penh (FN), May 26 - Two people died during the election campaign, said Hang Puthea, spokesman of the National Election Committee (NEC) in a meeting on Friday.
“One citizen in Battambang was dead in an accident with Cambodian People’s Party (CPP)'s parade and that CPP pledged full responsibility on the death.
A candidate from the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) also died in an accident in Pursat,” reported the spokesman.
“Over the last 6 days of the campaign, there were 34 complaints submitted from political parties, and almost 30 complaints were resolved,” Hang said adding that "29 were from CPP and 5 from CNRP".
NEC and civil society organizations agreed that the electoral campaign's security and safety has improved.
The campaign will last until June 02, 2017.
