Phnom Penh (FN), May 20 – More than 40 ASEAN and Chinese journalists representing over 30 publications, are visiting in Anhui province in southern China.

The trip will last 6 days from 18th to 24th May 2017.

The opening ceremony of ASEAN and Chinese Media was held at the International Tourism and Culture Fair in the city of Hefei in Anhui  Friday morning.

Yu Aihua, a permanent member of CPC Anhui Provincial Committee and chairman of the Department of Media led the event.

“ASEAN and China are good neighbors and partners. The implementation of roads and belt initiatives have cemented the relationship between ASEAN and the Anhui province with economic and trade cooperation,” said Zheng Mingwu, Anhui’s Media Director.

“The current exchange experiences, friendship, and mutual benefits have become the main theme of cooperation between ASEAN and the Anhui province. I hope that this event will help to improve relations between ASEAN and China,” he added.

The event is to be held in 4 of the province's cities, including the city of Hefei, Anqing, Chizhou, Xuancheng City.

Tran Thu Minh, Chief delegate of the ASEAN-China and chairman of Vietnam's state news agency VNA, thanked China for offering this rare opportunity for ASEAN journalists to learn more about Chinese culture, economics, and social development.

“I hoped that the cooperation between the ASEAN countries and southern Anhui province will continue to improve,” said Tran Thu Minh.

“ASEAN and China are home to rich resources, culture, and tourism.

Anhui Province boasts many tourist attractions. The participation and support of the media at this time is an effective way to expand tourism sector,” said a Cambodian journalist, Kong Roth Lomorng.

China’s State Council granted the consent for the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on Feb. 12, 2014 to construct and develop in international exhibitions, tourism and culture of southern Anhui province.

NDRC pointed out that organizing this event is really important for increasing economic growth and cultural creativity.
