Phnom Penh (FN), May 16 – The National Defense Ministry spokesman, Chhum Socheat, approved of the political message sent by the Minister of Defense Tea Banh on Sunday, warning extremists who may oppose election results.
“DPM Tea Banh’s message was not a threat, but rather as a warning to any extremists who may not recognize election results and cause public discord,” said the spokesman on Tuesday.
“The protest against the election results in the 2013 election caused social insecurity and serious damage to Cambodia’s peace,” he added.
DPM Tea Banh warned to crackdown on protests if election results were disputed.
“When the opposition lost the election, they demanded this and that. They did not recognize the results. I want to break their teeth,” said DPM Tea Banh.
