Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 14 – Spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia issued a statement to inform the public that Cambodian government did not approve Vingroup’s proposal to launch electric taxis in Cambodia.

“On Wednesday (Dec. 13), some media outlets reported that Viet Nam's Vingroup will launch 2,500 electric taxis in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, and Siem Reap. This information misled the public that the company will operate in Cambodia in early 2024,” according to the statement seen by Fresh News on Thursday (Dec. 14).

“On 12 December 2023, Samdech Thipadei had a working discussion with the CEO of Vingroup during his official visit to Viet Nam. The CEO presented a proposal, expressing a keen interest in investing in a Cambodian taxi company utilizing electric cars. However, the proposal was disapproved.”
