Phnom Penh (FN), May 9- The representatives of the Unit for Combating Drugs of Cambodia and Thailand have vowed to create drug-free zone along the Thai-Cambodian border, a strong firewall to prevent cross-border drug flow.
This strong position has been raised by Kao Khon Dara, deputy director of the National Authority for Combating Drugs at the meeting with Thai Minister of Justice on Tuesday evening.
“With the support from Thailand, we have promoting drug education for about 6 million people, and 3,300 crackdowns,” said Kao Khon Dara.
Cambodia is ready to cooperate with the Thai side to strengthen and expand cooperation in combating drug usage, particularly transnational drug crimes.
Cambodia and Thai aim to cooperate on establishing Drug-Free border regions to prevent the flow of drugs; and strengthen border relations office, BLO.
Cambodia requested Thai side for financial support on drug rehabilitation in Sihanoukville.
In response, Thai side accepted all the requests made by Cambodia side, and promised to effectively work together to achieve the goals.
