Phnom Penh (FN), May 6 - Por Sen Chey District police, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, arrested brokers from the Company Limited Co., Ltd. on Friday.

The arrests were made after officials received complaints from victims who  were scammed by brokers promising them work in Japan in exchange for a fee.

People felt suspicious after the company changed its location, causing the victims to seek help from the police.

“Many people from Kompong Chnang complained about Limited Co., Ltd of scamming about 40 people by taking $200 from each of them and promise to take them to work in Japan,” said one police officer.

The  Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training launched an investigation whereby it was discovered that the company was operating illegally.

Officials arrested a 66 year-old woman claiming to be a relative of the president of the company and  4 others for questioning.
