Phnom Penh (FN), May 4 – Sik Bun Hok, the President of the National Election Committee (NEC), has called for all participating parties to respect five principles to ensure a fair and just election.

The announcement was made during a meeting of the Permanent Security Committee (PSC) and was co-chaired by Sik Bun Hok and Interior Minister, Sar Kheng.

The two were organizing a security plan for the upcoming CCE, to be held on June 4, 2017.

The five principles are as follows:

All parties must follow and take  the regulations and procedures as well as code of conduct of the NEC seriously.

All authorities must be neutral; avoid using the state’s logistics and transportation to serve own party.

Royal Armed Forces and national police must adopt a neutral stance and comply with police and military code of ethics.

Prevent all acts and all forms of intimidation of activists, political parties, candidates and voters.

All social media must respect the Press Law, Election Law, regulations and procedures, alongside the media code ethics.

The commune election will be held on June 04, 2017. Twelve political parties have registered for the election.

7.8 million people have registered to vote out of the 9.6 million eligible voters.
