Phnom Penh (FN), May 2 – Heng Ratana, a Director- General of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) has urged all Cambodian citizens to maintain peace, as it is hard to find.
“Within the 10 member states of ASEAN, at least 3 have religious extremist groups and separatists; Cambodia is peaceful and thus we must maintain unity together,” Ratana wrote on his Facebook post.
In Thailand, Myanmar, and the Philippines, religious extremists have actively engaged in gun battles or terrorist attacks.
At least one hundred thousand Rohingyas (ethnic Muslims) in Myanmar have been displaced due to murder and violence by radical Buddhists. They are seeking refuge in Bangladesh.
“These countries are still dealing with internal conflict. We are proud that the Kingdom of Cambodia has a complete peace,” he added.
He urged that we must take a good care of it, as peace in this Kingdom is still very young like a baby.
