HOUSTON, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Former U.S. President George H. W. Bush will remain at a local hospital for observation after being hospitalized for a mild pneumonia, according to a statement released by the hospital on Monday.
The 92-year-old man will continue to rest at the Houston Methodist Hospital, and remain under observation for a few more days. His medical team hopes to discharge him by the end of the week.
Bush was admitted to the hospital on April 14 due to a persistent cough that had prevented him from getting proper rest, and was subsequently diagnosed as a mild pneumonia.
This is the third hospitalization for Bush this year.
In January, Bush was sent to this hospital with an acute respiratory problem. In February, he was hospitalized for catching flu.
Bush, who was born in 1924, was the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993.
