Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 7 – India hoped that under the leadership of the new Royal Government, Cambodia and India will further enhance cooperation in the kingdom's priority sectors through the establishment of a mechanism to facilitate trade and investment via preferential trade agreements and the promotion of people-to-people ties through Cambodia-India direct flights.
Indian ambassador to Cambodia Devyani Uttam Khobragade had a meeting with Cambodian minister of Economy and Finance Aun Pornmoniroth on 5 October 2023 at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Minister Aun Pornmoniroth expressed his pleasure and support for the Indian Government's cooperation in promoting bilateral trade facilitation for Cambodia-India mutual benefits and the launching of Cambodia-India direct flights, which will promote people-to-people connectivity and tourism flows between the two countries.
In addition, Aun Pornmoniroth underlined that both sides will jointly review the digital sector connectivity, which is a priority sector under the sustainable development strategy of the new mandate Royal Government of Cambodia under the wise leadership of Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet.
The minister also thanked the Government of India for further strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in the priority sectors of Cambodia, which will contribute to the socio-economic development of the Cambodian citizens.
Taking this occasion, the minister hoped and expressed his confidence that both nations will further promote this friendship by strengthening cooperation in priority sectors to ensure sustainable socio-economic development in the kingdom.
For her part, Devyani Uttam Khobragade appreciated the good Cambodia-India cooperation in the past and congratulated minister Aun Pornmoniroth for receiving a vote of confidence from the Cambodian National Assembly for the 7th mandate.
