Phnom Penh (FN), April 6 - The German government has pledged to donate about $40 million of grant aid to Cambodia for a period of 2 years from 2017 to 2018, according to a press release of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
The pledge was made after a meeting on development cooperation negotiations between the Cambodia government and the government of the Federal Republic of Germany on Tuesday and Wednesday at the CDC.
As a result, the two sides have agreed to continue cooperating on three main areas, including health, rural development and governance, as outlined in the Rectangular Strategy Phase III of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
The German government pledged to provide a grant of approximately 36.8 million euros, including 16 million euros for Financial Cooperation and 20.8 million euros for Technical Cooperation.
The support from Germany has contributed to assist Cambodia in reducing poverty, promoting respect for human rights and improving the lives of people.
