Phnom Penh (FN), April 6 – The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has donated $1 million to the Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital (KBCH) in an effort to alleviate financial issues within the hospital.

The hospital provides free healthcare services to children.

The donation ceremony was held on Wednesday with presence of the Cambodian Minister of Finance, Aun Pornmoniroth and Minister of Tourism, Thong Khon.

The budget stemmed from the increasing price of $2 per ticket to visit Angkor Archaeological Park in the past two months of 2017.

The donation reflects the government's ongoing efforts to ensure the sustainability of operations at Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital.

The RGC will continue funding KBCH every three months, using the earnings from Angkor Archaeological Park on top of annual financial support.

On behalf of the RGC, the ministers expressed their sincere appreciation towards Dr. Beat Richner for founding and supporting KBCH. They wished him a speedy recovery from his illness.
