Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 25 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet and a high-level delegation safely arrived Cambodia on Monday morning (Sep. 25) after successfully concluding their mission in the United States (US).
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet led a high-level delegation to the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 21 September 2023.
Following the 78th Session of the UNGA, Samdech Thipadei also paid separate courtesy calls on the UN secretary-general, the US acting deputy secretary of state, Australian foreign minister, Indian foreign minister, and president of Timor-Leste.
Through these meetings, Samdech Thipadei, as the new leader of Cambodia, presented Cambodia's foreign policy and informed about the development policy set by the new government. In addition, the meeting discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation.
The UN secretary-general learned about Cambodian politics and expressed strong support for the development program in Cambodia. In particular, the meeting with the deputy secretary of state of the United States, Australian foreign minister, Indian foreign minister and the president of Timor-Leste also yielded good results, leading to an understanding of Cambodia's political position and commitment to strengthen closer cooperation.
The overseas mission of Samdech Thipadei focuses on three goals: diplomacy, politics and economy. Samdech Thipadei also seeks economic benefits for the country with Samdech Thipadei presiding over the US-Cambodia Business Forum. He pointed out the policies and protections set by the Royal Government for the investors, and urged investors to seek investment opportunities in Cambodia. The premier announced that with support, protection and other incentives, the US investors will be rewarded for their investment.
Before returning to Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei also met with about 2,000 Cambodians living in the US and Canada.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also briefed on the results of the new Royal Government, as well as the purpose and the outcomes of his overseas trips. Samdech Thipadei also presented the policy regarding employment and poverty reduction.
