Phnom Penh (FN), March 29 – Rady Mom, a Cambodian-American State Representative for Massachusetts, said that Cambodia has developed substantially compared to his first visit in 2014.

He hoped that Cambodian politicians will be able to work together to further develop.

Rady shared his impressions during a courtesy call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prak Sokhonn, on Wednesday morning.

Travelling in Phnom Penh and other provinces, Rady has witnessed Cambodia’s improving infrastructure, economy, and security. He noted this was a huge difference from his first visit to Cambodia in 2014.

“Honestly, Cambodia is on the right track, good roads and security. I saw a lot of improvement,” said Rady Mom.

Rady also suggested a basketball match between Cambodian and American youths to cement friendship between both citizens, according to Chum Sounry, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affiars.

Prak Sokhonn thanked the U.S. for always assisting Cambodia with trade, the economy, demining, and skill strengthening for the Cambodian peacekeeping forces to the United Nations.

Rady Mom, 48, a democrat, is the first Cambodian-American to be a State Representative in the U.S after he won the election in Lowell, Massachusetts in 2014.

He left Cambodia at the age of 12 during the Khmer Rouge Regime.
