HANOI, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam will inspect 520 facilities in 21 localities nationwide on their adherence to environment protection regulations, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources of Environment on Friday.
These facilities, which could potentially cause serious environmental pollution, include production and business establishments, industrial, export processing and hi-tech zones, reported local Vietnam News online newspaper.
The inspection will pay special attention on establishments with total waste water discharge of over 200 cubic meters per day.
The ministry will also build a national data system on sources of pollution and map out solutions to address the issues.
According to the Vietnamese government, organizations caught violating environmental protection regulations will face the highest fine of 2 billion Vietnamese dong (88,800 U.S. dollars).
