CANBERRA, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump is a "big personality" with a "very big job", Australia's Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said on Tuesday, as he promoted the "very deep" alliance shared by his nation and the United States.
Ahead of a number of meetings between Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and high-up U.S. officials, Turnbull moved to clarify the interaction he had with the U.S. President following the now-infamous phone call between the two leaders earlier this month.
At the time, Trump described his congratulatory phone call with Turnbull as the worst of his morning, after the Australian Prime Minister sought to confirm an asylum seeker deal signed by the previous Obama administration.
Despite the media coverage of the phone call, Turnbull told Bloomberg that Australia maintains a strong relationship with its superpower ally.
"(Trump and I have) had several conversations now, they've been constructive, frank and forthright," Turnbull told Bloomberg on Tuesday.
