Beijing (FN), Feb. 11 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen called on Chinese investors and businessmen to return to Cambodia to take advantage of Cambodia's trade policy.
The premier spoke on the occasion of presiding over the opening of the Cambodia-China Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion Forum held in Beijing, China on Friday night (Feb. 10).
The organization of this forum will further promote joint efforts between Cambodia and China in the implementation of open politics and Belt and Road Initiative, which will help restore economic recovery after the COVID19 crisis and help strengthen economic, trade, investment and tourism relations between the two countries, the premier said.
In his opening remarks, premier Hun Sen highlighted the renewed commitment to strengthening friendship, relations and cooperation between China and Cambodia. In particular, Chinese president Xi Jinping's Belt and Road Initiative has boosted connectivity in Cambodia and contributed to increased trade between China and Cambodia.
At the same time, Samdech highlighted the economic development and policies related to investment and trade in Cambodia.
“Cambodia has invested heavily in building airports, roads, sewerage systems and resorts for tourism. Cambodia has also introduced measures to adjust trade, improve the business environment as well as policies.”
In addition, the Royal Government has been preparing the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone to become a multi-purpose special economic zone after the successful development of the trade corridor, the premier said.
Cambodia is a small country, but she has an open economy based on the multilateral trade system and regional economic integration.
Cambodia is a member of the World Trade Organization, a member of ASEAN, and a party to the ART, a signatory to the Cambodia-China, Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement and is considering other partners, such as the United Arab Emirates, which could be finalized soon, Samdech pointed out some favorable conditions for Chinese investors and businessmen.
Samdech appealed to Chinese investors and businessmen, "I would like to call on all traders and investors to decide to invest in time to benefit from the favorable markets that Cambodia receives from developed and developing countries.”
On that occasion, Samdech praised the government, investors, business people and the Chinese people who always support economic development, trade and investment in Cambodia, especially to all Chinese investors who are investing in Cambodia.
Premier Hun Sen calls on Chinese investors to study and explore the investment potential and opportunities in Cambodia. He announced to guarantee all Chinese investors a favorable investment environment. In particular, Cambodia is enjoying peace, good security, political stability, as well as macroeconomic stability, effective legal and institutional framework, transparency and accountability.
