Phnom Penh (FN), Feb 2 – At least 2,773 people have been arrested as the result of a 31-day anti-drug campaign that began on January 1, according to a government's report released on Feb. 2, 2017.
Police also confiscated 9 kg of drugs, 268 vehicles, and 703 mobile phones. Of the 2,773 arrests, 267 of them were female.
The first phase of the nationwide anti-drug campaign (Jan. 1 to June 30, 2017 ) was initiated by Prime Minister Hun Sen.The focus is on enhanced law enforcement, rehabilitation, anti-trafficking and education.
The campaign is led by Interior Minister Sar Kheng as the head and Ke Kim Yan, chairman of National Authority for Combating Drugs as the deputy head.
