Phnom Penh (FN), Jan 31 – Prime Minister Hun Sen requested the National Assembly (N.A) to amend law on political parties to decide that any convicted individual has no rights to be the president nor vice president of any political parties in Cambodia.
The request was made during the Extraordinary Parliamentary Meeting, presided over by N.A’s president Heng Samrin on Tuesday morning to review N.A’s internal regulation article 48 (NEW-III).
“We have forgiven them many times. This time, we shall amend law on political parties”, said the premier.
“I would like to request that a convicted individual like Sam Rainsy shall not possess the right to be the president nor vice president of the political party, as he does not even have right to vote”, the premier added.
