Phnom Penh (FN), Jan 26 – Nick Beresford, the newly elected Director of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Cambodia has pledged to continue promoting development in Cambodia through human resource development, capacity building, and technical support.
The pledge was made at a meeting between Nick Beresford and Minister of Finance, Aun Pornmoniroth on Wednesday at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF)
According to the MEF's press release, Nick Beresford appreciated what the government has done over the past decade, particularly the rapid economic growth of 7% per annum and the vision to become high-income country in 2050.
Nick is committed to fulfilling UNDP’s mission to support the government on social development, and build human resource with the focus on innovation and information technology in Cambodia, said the press release.
Aun Pornmoniroth, meanwhile, highly evaluated Nick’s mission in strengthening and expanding the cooperation between the Royal Government and UNDP, while Nick thanked the minister for the courtesy visit, the opportunity to report UNDP’s mission, and a summary of economic situation that Cambodia achieved.
