Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 25 - The permanent committee of the National Assembly will meet tomorrow in order to review some agenda for the next parliament's extraordinary session, especially on the amendment of Article 48 (III-New) of an Internal Regulation.
Leng Penglong, Secretary General of the National Assembly told Fresh News that the meeting on Thursday will be chaired by President Heng Samrin.
The proposed amendment was initiated by Prime Minister Hun Sen, claiming that the current one violates the court jurisdiction and that it has been used to lobby for the release of prisoners. The proposal, dated Jan. 19, 2017, was signed by 55 lawmakers from Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).
If the amendment is successful, Acting President of Cambodian National Rescue Party Kem Sokha will lose his title as “Minority Leader”, nominated in December 06, 2016.
