NEW DELHI, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- India's main opposition Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi Tuesday was admitted to a private hospital in the national capital.
The 69-year-old has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital after she was diagnosed with viral fever, sources said.
This is not the first time that Sonia Gandhi has been hospitalised.
In August this year, she was taken to the same hospital after she fell ill during a roadshow in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency of Varanasi in northern India.
Gandhi was discharged after nearly two weeks from the hospital where she underwent a surgery over a shoulder injury.
In 2014, she was admitted to a Delhi hospital for treatment of an infection. In 2013, she was taken to a hospital for a few hours after she fell ill in the Parliament.
And in 2011, Gandhi went to the United States where she received surgery at a hospital in New York for an undisclosed medical condition.
Gandhi is not only the president of the Congress party, but also the head of the Nehru-Gandhi family that has mostly governed India since independence in 1947.
