JAKARTA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- An army helicopter with five crew aboard lost contact while passing Borneo Island of central Indonesia on Thursday, a military spokesman said.
The helicopter was carrying logistic supplies for soldiers at borders between Indonesia and Malaysia in the northern parts of the island, Major General Wuryanto, a military spokesman, told Xinhua by phone.
The chopper made last contact at 11:29 a.m. local time and it should have arrived at its destination in Long Bawan village of North Kalimantan province around 11:50 a.m., the spokesman said.
"Still, until now the helicopter has not arrived," he said, adding that the chopper departed from Juwata airport in Tarakan town of the province at 10:54 a.m..
"A search operation for the helicopter will start tomorrow (Friday) morning," he said.
