PHNOM PENH, Nov. 18 (FN) -- Cambodia will host the 9th Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2, a National Assembly spokesman said on Friday.
The 9th APA, along with the 2nd APA Executive Council meeting, will be held in northwestern Siem Reap province with the participation of parliamentary presidents and representatives from about 25 countries, said National Assembly secretary-general and spokesman Leng Peng Long.
The opening ceremony will be convening on Nov. 28 in the afternoon with a welcoming royal message from Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and keynote addresses by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and National Assembly president Samdech Heng Samrin, he said.
"The 9th APA will discuss and pass a number of draft decisions that cover politics, economics, social matters, and women issues," he said.
Founded in 2006, APA aims at promoting peace, reconciliation, security, development and integration in Asia, he added.
