Phnom Penh (FN), Oct 10 – Five major state and private media organizations in Cambodia that include Fresh News, Rasmei Kampuchea, Cambodia News Agency, AKP, National Television, TVK, and National Radio RNK, and Khmer Times met for a discussion meeting this afternoon of October 10, 2016 with China’s communist party’s Deputy Minister of Publication Tuo Zhen, and managing directors of eight major media organizations of China with the aim of enhancing good relationship between Cambodian and Chinese journalists.
The Chinese media officials include Mr. Zhao Jian Guo, Deputy Director General of the International Publication of China’s State Council’s Information Office; Mr. Sun Yu Sheng, Deputy Director General of China’s Central Television, CCTV, Mr. Gao An Ming, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China’s Daily; Mr. Hu Ban Sheng, Deputy President of China’s International Radio; Mr. Yan Tao, Vice Director of Department of Xinhua News Agency; Mr. Wang Xiao Hui, Editor-in-Chief of China’s Online Information Center and Mr. Chen Da Wei, Deputy Director General of International Relation Department of China’s State Council Information Office.
At the meeting, Mr. Tuo Zhen expressed his expectation that Cambodian and Chinese journalists would be free to express opinions and sharing of information so that the discussion meeting today could become a bilateral forum for expanding and exchanging of ideas and information effectively towards the establishment of a bilateral exchange and communication network.
The Chinese deputy minister added that Cambodian and Chinese media would be working together to combine prioritized resources of cooperation in terms of sharing of information materials, interviews, photos and joint broadcast meant to boost cooperation to a new and high level.
In response, managing directors and editors-in-chief of Cambodian media organizations attending the meeting that include Mr. Lim Chea Vutha, founder and executive director of Fresh News, Mr. Teav Sarakmuny, editor-in-chief of Rasmei Kampuchea, Mr. Keo Chandara of AKP, Mr. Tun Sarath, Mr. Tey Maly and Ms Chhim Sok Kady respectively director general and deputy-director-generals of the national radio, Mr. Kvay Atithya, Deputy Director General of TVK and Mr. Cheang Sokha, Editor-in-chief of Khmer Times, all expressed happiness with cooperation between Cambodian and Chinese media and were committed to further expand the cooperation and particularly coverage of the visit of China’s president to Cambodia in the coming days.
Mr. Lim Chea Vutha, Executive Director of Fresh News said FN had always been very active in reporting about activities of the Chinese government on the international arena particularly in relation to the South China Sea issues and the last ASEAN Summit in China and that currently FN still enjoys its collaboration with major Chinese media namely Xinhua, CCTV and others with a view to sharing of media experiences. FN will be covering all activities of the China’s president Xi Jinping during his visit that will start on October 13, 2016, Vutha added.
