YANGON, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) — Trade between Myanmar and the United States reached 134.496 million U.S. dollars in the first nearly six months as of Sept. 9 of the financial year 2016-17 (April-March), official media reported Tuesday.
During the period, Myanmar's export to the U.S. took 76.185 million dollars, while its import from the U.S. represented 58.311 million dollars, the Ministry of Commerce was quoted as saying.
The two countries' bilateral trade showed 550 million dollars in 2014-15 financial year, while it was nearly 200 million dollars in 2015-16, according to statistics.
Myanmar mainly exported to the U.S. agricultural products, fishery products and finished industrial products, while it mainly imported from the latter personal goods, capital goods and industrial raw materials.
The United States has lifted sanctions on Myanmar and reinstated Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), which was suspended in 1989.
