HANOI, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) — The Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi will next month add seven streets and two by-streets to its existing pedestrian zones, the municipal authorities said Thursday.
The new pedestrian and by-streets in the downtown area include Hang Chieu, Hang Bac, Dao Duy Tu, Nguyen Sieu, Cau Go, Dinh Liet, Gia Ngu, Ngo Gach and Trung Yen.
Besides folk games and arts performances at the existing pedestrian zone which include 10 streets, new recreational and cultural activities will be frequently held at Quan Chuong City Gate, Kim Ngan Temple and Chuong Vang Theater.
In April 2015, Nguyen Hue Street in Ho Chi Minh City became Vietnam's first pedestrian street. Besides many surveillance cameras installed at Nguyen Hue Square, special police in plain clothes frequently patrol along the street.
