PHNOM PENH (FN), September 20 – During the inauguration today, September 20, 2016, of the first Japanese private hospital in Cambodia's capital of Phnom Penh, Prime Minister Hun Sen instructed the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities to step up preventives measures against the spread Zika into Cambodia, when the virus has already reached neighboring countries.
The renewed call for precaution by Prime Minister Hun Sen was made when the virus Zika is once again attacking a number of countries in South East Asia. Vietnam and Thailand, Cambodia’s East and West neighbors have all announced the existence of Zika in the respective countries while Singapore has detected over 300 cases.
As part of the preventive measures against Zika, health ministry has set up a number of equipment for testing of travellers’ body temperature in case of any suspicion related to the disease, at Phnom Penh International Airport and other international border crossings.
