PHNOM PENH, Sept. 7 (FN) — Cambodia on Wednesday strongly condemned a grenade blast in the capital Phnom Penh and called on people to cooperate with the authorities to find out the perpetrators for prosecution.

The explosion happened at 7:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday in Boeung Keng Kang III commune of Chamkamon district, leaving four people wounded and four cars damaged, said an Interior Ministry's statement.

Security camera footage uploaded to Facebook late Tuesday showed suspects riding a motorcycle threw a grenade on the road and the grenade exploded seconds later.

"The Ministry of Interior extremely regrets for the incident, which caused injuries to innocent people and damaged people's properties," the statement said. "The Ministry of Interior vehemently condemns this dreadful act."

The statement added that authorities have been taking measures to investigate the case thoroughly in order to bring the perpetrators for prosecution in accordance with the law.

It called on people to cooperate with the authorities through providing information related to the explosion in order to determine the identity of the perpetrators.
