Phnom Penh (FN), August 11 – During a courtesy call by newly appointed North Korean Ambassador to Cambodia Jang Yun Gon on August 12, 2016, Prime Minister Hun Sen called on North Korea to follow the UN Security Council’s resolution and return to the six-party negotiation for the sake of peace in the Korean peninsula.
“After welcoming the new Ambassador, the premier called on North Korea to abide by the decision of the United Nations Security Council and suggested that North Korea returns to the six-party negotiations so that peace in the Koran peninsula could be maintained,” Kao Kim Hourn, Minister of Delegate attached to the Prime Minister told the press after the meeting.
“The Prime Minister is keen to see peace in the peninsula and therefore would like to call for the negotiations to be resumed,” added Kim Hourn. However, Kim Hourn did not say what the answer of the North Korean Ambassador to the premier’s appeal was.
Cambodia has always been encouraging both North and South Korea to be patient and refrain from any provocative actions that would lead to a war and instability.
