WUHAN, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- China's Hubei Province, center of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, reported 4,823 new confirmed cases on Thursday, local health authorities said Saturday.

1,519 people have now died nationwide and more than 66,000 have been infected after Hubei's health commission reported the new numbers.

The commission said the adjustment in the calculation has been made to give those who have been clinically diagnosed the timely standard treatment of confirmed cases.

The commission received reports of 2,641 new confirmed cases on Friday from 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, including 2,420 in Hubei.
