Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 12 – The representative of the Permanent Mission of Cambodia to the United Nations (UN) and other international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland, issued a press release on 11 November 2019 reacting to statement by expert on human rights in Cambodia.
"The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the United Nations Office at Geneva remains disturbed with another media statement dated 11 November 2019 of Professor Rhona Smith, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Cambodia, which renews a
baseless demand as for individuals in conflict with the laws despite the latest positive development on the ground," the statement read.
"The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Cambodia would like to remind the Special Rapporteur of her mandate, which is to assist Cambodia in the promotion and protection of human rights, through dialogues and cooperation, on the basis of the principles of impartiality, objectivity, non-selectivity and non-politicization. The Special Rapporteur is not a judge to rule for any acquittal," it added.
