Phnom Penh (FN), July 19 – Cambodia’s Civil Aviation State Secretariat (SCAS) signed an agreement on open market and air transportation with Finland’s Civil Aviation Authority that will allow for direct flights between Cambodia and Finland.
SCAS's spokesperson Serei Vutha told Fresh News on July 19, 2016 that the signing ceremony was held on July 18, 2016 at the Office of SCAS and that the agreement will provide conveniences to every airline that wishes for direct flights to Cambodia or do it by code share.
“We think if there are not enough travelers, the only way that the flight would work is through code share with another airline and this constitutes the opening of a new market for flights”, stated Serei Vutha.
Secretary of CCAS Mao Havanall considered this agreement as a new achievement under the "Open Sky Policy" of Prime Minister Hun Sen in attracting direct flights to Cambodia that will bring about an increase number of air travelers, international visitors, economic growth, and poverty reduction.
