BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Domestic mobile phone producers dominated China's smartphone sector, with their combined market share exceeding 80 percent, according to a report.
Smartphone sales reached 190 million units in the first half of the year, down 6 percent year on year, a report from market research firm CINNO showed.
Huawei, Oppo and Vivo ranked top three in terms of sales, with Huawei accounting for 34.3 percent of the total. Oppo and Vivo made up 18.6 percent and 18.5 percent, respectively, followed by Xiaomi with 12.3 percent of the market share.
Apple and Samsung, which used to be the top two smartphone brands in the Chinese market, saw their sales account for 8.06 percent and 1.5 percent of the total sales, respectively.
Domestic smartphone makers have focused on improving their hardware while keeping prices low, which made their products more competitive to win over consumers, according to the report.
