NEW DELHI, May 28 (Xinhua) -- India has successfully test-fired the new version of surface-to-air "Akash" missile from a test range in Odisha in India's eastern state, the ministry of defence said in a statement.
The Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully test-fired "Akash Mk1S" missile from ITR, Chandipur and Odisha. This is the second successful test of the missile, which took place on Monday.
The Akash weapon system has a combination of both command guidance and active terminal seeker guidance. It is a medium range surface-to-air missile developed by DRDO with multi-target engagement capability.
