Phnom Penh (FN), June 25 – Starting from this year of 2016, Cambodia government will increase its financial contribution to support the children hospital Kantha Bopha from $3 million to $6 million annually, according to a report by Dr. Beat Richner, founder and chairman of Kantha Bopha hospital made available to Fresh News this morning, June 25, 2016.
“Cambodian Red Cross has told us that the reduced ‘mortality rate of children and mothers’ in Cambodia was partly attributed to Kantha Bopha hospital…For this reason, the Royal Government of Cambodia will increase contribution to the hospital from $3 million to $6 million,” Dr. Richner stated in his report on June 25, 2016.
Nevertheless, Dr. Richner was strongly unsatisfied that the Swiss government fails to increase its contribution to the hospital, maintaining only $4 million per year as it has been so far.
Kantha Bopha hospital spends approximately $120,000 a day and over $42 million per year. The hospital is supported by a staff of 2,500 and over 3,000 children have sought treatment and medical services from the hospital every day.
