PARIS, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- A gas blast hit Central Paris on early Saturday, leaving several injured, according to local media reports.

Local media also reported that the explosion took place in a bakery on the Rue de Trevise in the ninth arrondissement of Paris.

French police have called on people to avoid the area and make way for rescue vehicles.
