Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 17 – Chan Chen, lawyer of former opposition leader Kem Sokha, reacted to the serious insult of Sam Rainsy on Sokha and other former CNRP officials in the kingdom.
Sam Rainsy recently claimed that all the statements of former CNRP members are useless, as they are made under the pressure of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
“Sam Rainsy’s statement is (1) an excuse to gather his supporters abroad to support him to revolutionize the party for his own power; (2) a serious insult to Kem Sokha, independent analysts, lawyers, and the dissolved CNRP activists,” Chen wrote on his Facebook Monday.
“Indeed, the detainee has limited freedom, yet the one with conscience will still exercise their rights under any circumstances; he or she would not do something dishonored as incited or accused by Sam Rainsy,” Chen added.
Muth Chantha, former cabinet chief of Kem Sokha, also reacted.
“You [Rainsy] have honour and dignity, and so do I, thus, we shall respect one another,” Chantha wrote on Facebook today, adding that: “You might be more powerful than me, but you will never have better rights or freedom than I do.”
Sam Rainsy’s insult was made when former leader Kem Sokha and CNRP officials opposed the appointment of himself as the Acting President of the dissolved CNRP, and opposed his urge to former CNRP officials not to accept the lift of bans.
Sam Rainsy considered his confidant Kong Korm and former CNRP lawmaker Ou Chanrath the “traitor” when they gave interviews to journalists concerning their stances to re-enter politics.
