Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 15 – The Bar Association of Cambodia issued a statement on Thursday confirming that Heang Rithy, former Vice President of the Beehive Social Democratic Party, is not a lawyer registered by the Bar Association.

"The Bar Association of Cambodia strongly rejects Heang Rithy as a lawyer registered in the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia," the Bar Association wrote in its statement.

The Bar Association further asserts that the use of functions, roles, and title as a lawyer in the Radio Free Asia interview is a violation of the Law on Lawyers, lawyers’ code of conduct and internal regulations.

It is worth noting that the Bar Association’s reaction came after Rithy used his title as a lawyer in an interview with Radio Free Asia to criticize Cambodian court.
