Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 6 - First Vice-President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) Ly Thuch asked the United Nations to continue respecting sovereignty, independence, and the principle of non-interferences in the internal affairs of other countries, in accordance with the United Nations Charter, addressing at the inauguration ceremony of a national workshop on "Supporting Cambodia in Meeting the Challenge of Resource Mobilization for Achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, which was held from 5 to 6 November 2018 at the Hotel Cambodiana, Phnom Penh.
Senior Minister Ly Thuch also requested to the UN as follows: (1) supporting Cambodia to address poverty issues, (2) participating in the protection and promotion of globalization, rule of law and international law, (3) assisting needed countries in Asia and the Pacific, and (4) safeguarding the principle of respect to sovereignty, independence and non-interference in the internal affairs.
Dr. Oliver Paddison, UN-ESCAP Representative, praised Cambodia’s progress under the wise leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen, acknowledging that Cambodia is walking on the right path, as Cambodian people are living in peace with the development of all fields.
