CARACAS, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- The president of Venezuela's National Constituent Assembly (ANC) on Friday condemned the new sanctions imposed by the United States on Venezuela's gold exports.
"The arrogant attitude of the imperialist believing that its sanctions will subdue the people of Venezuela doesn't surprise us," Diosdado Cabello said.
The United States placed new sanctions on Venezuela's gold exports on Thursday, after U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton announced a hard-line policy toward Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua.
The export of gold is a significant source of money needed by the South American country to buy medicine and food, said Gabello, who called the U.S. move "a genocide against Venezuela."
However, Cabello made an assurance that the Venezuelan government is willing to talk with the United States, because talks are "the fundamental tools to make policies."
