Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 17 - Prime Minister Hun Sen and his high-level delegation have landed Belgium successfully at 8:20 a.m (Brussels time), at about 1:20 p.m (Phnom Penh time). The delegation was welcomed by EU leaders, Cambodian ambassador, and many Cambodians living and studying in EU.
Cambodian Strongman will attend the 12th ASEM Summit in Brussels on 18-19 October 2018, at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Donald Tusk, President of the European Council and H.E. Mr. Jean Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, according to foreign affairs ministry’s press release dated on 14 October 2018.
The 12th ASEM Summit, which will be held under the key theme “Europe and Asia: Global Partners for Global Challenges”, aims to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe as the two regions strive to build synergy to tackle a wide range of areas from boosting trade and investment, to connectivity, to sustainable development and climate change.
Addressing the Plenary Session under the sub-theme “Reinforcing the multilateral system: advancing the ASEM partnership on global issues”, Prime Minister Hun Sen will deliver his key remarks on “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Inclusive & Sustainable Economic Growth”.
During his stay in Belgium, Samdech Techo Prime Minister will hold separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts, namely H.E. Mr. Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary, H.E. Mrs. Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway, H.E. Mr. Andrej BabiŠ, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic as well as other heads of delegation.
ASEM currently has 53 partners: 51 countries and 2 regional organisations.
