QALAT, Afghanistan, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 militants have been confirmed dead as clash broke out between security forces and Taliban group in Shinkai district of the southern Zabul province on Friday, provincial police chief Mustafa Mayar said Saturday.

Speaking via telephone from provincial capital Qalat, Mayar added that three more insurgents had been injured.

He also admitted that only two police were killed in the fighting.

Meanwhile, unofficial sources believed that over a dozen security personnel have also lost their lives in the skirmishes begun on Friday evening.

Taliban militants are yet to make comment on the situation in Shinkai district.
