New York, USA (FN), Sept. 29 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen submitted three proposals to the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres in a meeting on Friday afternoon in New York, USA.

First, Cambodia proposed to extend the two-year term for United Nations Human Rights in Cambodia after the previous agreement concluded in 2018. The new agreement will be signed this October in Geneva between Cambodian foreign affairs minister Prak Sokhonn and representative of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Secondly, Cambodia proposed to be further active in UN peacekeeping mission; Cambodia will send a larger number of blue berets to join the United Nations’ humanitarian affairs mission if needs be.

Thirdly, Cambodia proposed to continue remunerating salaries for officials serving at the Khmer Rouge Tribunal in Cambodia.

UN Secretary-General approved the three proposals and expressed his deepest thanks to Samdech Hun Sen for extending the two-year term for United Nations Human Rights in Cambodia, and for his willingness to assist the United Nations’ peacekeeping mission with the presences of disciplined and capable Cambodian blue berets.
